Background

The National Alumni Survey is a biennial, national survey among all recently graduated master’s students at Dutch universities.

Students who graduate with a master’s degree somewhere between October and September of the previous year receive a personal e-mail to enter the survey. In this survey, all Dutch research universities participate.

In autumn 2025 the survey NAE will have a new release. Students who graduated with a master’s degree, somewhere between October 2023 and September 2024 receive an invitation from the research university you graduated from.

The aim of the research is to gain insight into the situation of alumni: how is the connection with the labour market and how do they look back on their master’s degree? This information helps universities to improve their master’s degree programmes. In addition, the results of the survey provide information for students orientating on a masters programme: what are prospects on the labour market?

The online survey asks about the transition from education to the labour market. Do you think your job fits the education you had? How difficult was it to find a job? Can you put your knowledge and skills to good use? You are also asked for data on for example the number of working hours per week, your salary and job position.

The survey is distributed among all graduates, one to one and a half years after graduation. It does not matter whether you did the route WO Bachelor – WO Master’s, via a University of Applied Science (HBO) or completed a WO Master’s programme as an international student.

Even if you already had work experience before you finished your university master’s degree, or if you live and/or work abroad, we like your evaluation of your master’s educational programme.
